What is the Blockchain? Is The Blockchain forever? How long Will it Last? Is the Blockchain Safe? Who Created the Blockchain?

The blockchain is like a database. The database is not maintained by one major party, but by many different parties. The blockchain is the backbone of Crypto and reaching a decentralized economy. The blockchain is like a ledger that can be tracked and verified by anyone. It is constantly being maintained and verified by each operator also known as nodes. Each node is constantly being updated and must verify accuracy. Thus each node contains an exact copy of the ledger (Blockchain). The birth of a blockchain starts of a bit more centralized, but can become decentralized and self governing over time. Imagine a balloon cannot self inflate, it takes someone to inflate the balloon, but once it is ready, it can be set free to fly on it's own. The same applies to a new blockchain. The new blockchain must have a creator or creators, such as the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto is the creator of Bitcoin. Once more node operators, also known as miners began to secure the Bitcoin network, and the code was completed, it was able to run and maintain itself. Of course in the early days of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto and others collaborated together to make updates to the code. Once it was completed, Satoshi Nakamoto stopped communication with all other developers and famously became a legend never to be heard from again.

The blockchain will last as long as node operators are incentivized to continue operation and as long as the world has the internet. Even if some world catastrophe were to happen, as long as nodes come back online and verify the ledger, the blockchain can continue to operate. So the blockchain can technically last forever. Each blockchain is only as safe as it's operators allow it to be safe. The more copies of the ledger in circulation and the more it is verified and reverified, the stronger the network becomes. Bitcoin being the very first and oldest blockchain has the safest and strongest blockchain. It has never gone down and has never been hacked.
